Now people of Nagpur will have another low cost option to fly to Mumbai when IndiGo airlines begins its operations from the city on October 18. Nagpur will act as a hopping station for the Mumbai-Nagpur-Kolkata sector. The low cost carrier has already put up billboards at prominent places across the city and have started accepting bookings for their Mumbai-Nagpur-Kolkata and return flight from October 18. The flight which will be a 180-seater Airpus A 320, will depart from Mumbai at 3.20 pm and will touch down Nagpur at 4.35 pm. It will then leave for Kolkata from the city at 5.05 pm and arrive at the destination at 6.55 pm. The aircraft will bear the flight number 6E403. The company website quoted the fare in the Mumbai-Nagpur sector Rs. 1,299 while in the Nagpur-Kolkata sector, it was Rs. 1,849. For the return journey, the flight 6E 404 will take off from Kolkata at 7.45 pm and will arrive at the Nagpur airport at 0.35 pm. The same flight will leave for Mumbai at 10.05 pm and will touch down at the Mumbai airport at 11.20 pm. The fares for the sector too are variable and was quoted at Rs. 1,249 for Kolkata to Nagpur and Rs. 999 for Nagpur-Mumbai sector. It will offer daily services to both the destinations. The fares for both the sectors Mumbai-Nagpur-Kolkata and the return journey have been kept variable and depend on availability of seats. The lowest slab available on this sector is Rs. 999 and changes as the number of available seats reduces. Till there are twelve or more than twelve seats available, the amount charged will be Rs. 999. After that, it gets raised to the second slab of Rs. 1,249. When a particular number of seats in this slab also gets booked, then the next slab of Rs. 1,549 and later Rs. 1,849 gets applicable. Sources said that the airlines will be having two offices in the city one at Hotel Sunny International and the other at the airport. The Airport Manager of the airlines here will be Varun Dwivedi who was earlier with Jet Airways. Currently, the number of seats available in the Nagpur-Mumbai sector for the inaugural flight is exactly twelve while on the Mumbai -Nagpur sector, it is 8 till last informed by the company call centre on Tuesday evening. However, these fares do not include taxes like the passenger service tax (PSF) and other taxes which combinedly amounts up to Rs. 1,075. So the total fare is the normal fare plus Rs. 1,075. The airline currently flies to nine destinations including Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. With, IndiGo coming to Nagpur, it will come into direct competition with another low cost airline Air Deccan which also has daily services to Mumbai and it too flies an Airbus A320 in the evening. PTI reported on Tuesday that the company has a target to fly to 30 cities across the country with a fleet of 40 A-320s by 2010.
