A Workshop on 'Environmental Management' in Western Coalfields Limited (WCL)mines of Madhya Pradesh was organised on Monday at WCL Headquarter.The objective of the workshop was to discuss and devise stratedies for speedy implementation of Environmental Imapact Asessment (EIA) notification of the Central Government.
Inaugurating the workshop,chairman,Madhya Pradesh Pollution control Board Dr S P Gautam said that environment management must receive top priorities in all the industries.As reponsible cooporate citizens,industries must ensure that the quality of soil,air and water are not polluted in the process of development.
Gautam said "it is beyond the means of human beings to create what nature has endowed,but they can certainly contribute to preserve and conserve it,if they pay adequate attention to environmental aspects."He advised cent per cent implementation of Enironmental Management plans during the course of coal minin operation.
Director (Operations) K K Sharan presided over the inaugural session.Also present on hte dias were Director (Project and Planning) S R Upadhyay,Regional director,CMPDIL,P Guha,Chief General Manager(Environment) A K Singh General Manager (HRD) S S Maji.
S S Maji welcomed the gathering and A K Singh gave a brief view of environment management activities in WCL mines.
